One of the most common excuses I hear as to why homeschooling "won't" work is that parents' work schedules won't allow for it. This is a popular misconception that I once believed, as well.
I am a working homeschool mom. I work mornings and nights while my kids are sleeping and fit in work on the weekends. So how can I possibly homeschool when I am working 20 plus hours per week?
I GET HELP! From who, you might ask? Research based, reputable, effective online programs. There are so many online resources that can help your family successfully homeschool. I choose to outsource certain subjects to the online world so that I am still teaching some subjects one on one. For us, we use online curriculums for bible, science, and history.
Choosing an online curriculum is a great way to solve the dilemma of time management as a working homeschooling family. Here are some of our favorite online resources:
1. Study.Com

This program offers online selections for full homeschool curriculums with all the subjects, or course electives that you can add on to a curriculum that you're already using.
With Study.Com, you can pay a monthly subscription and add the courses that your child needs. All of the grading is done for you and the course sequences are already organized for you so that you do not have to worry about assigning lessons and activities yourself.
Another thing we really like about this program is that the courses are all self paced. Your child can take as little or as much time as they need to finish their course with pre recorded video lessons for every unit. They also offer reviews and tests that can help you keep track of your child's progress and you even have the option to go back and redo lessons if needed.
Study.Com starts at grade 3 and goes all the way up through college level elective courses.

2. Abeka Academy
Abeka is one of the most popular homeschool curriculum among veteran homeschooling families. It's one of the few accredited programs for homeschooling and they have both an online option and a textbook option. Abeka Academy is their online option that offers every subject for every grade level all the way through 12th grade. You can choose to buy a full year at 1 price or pick and choose which subjects you want. It's one price and not a subscription and all of the lessons are pre recorded so the child can work at their own pace. Click here to check it out!
3. Monarch Online Homeschool

Monarch is an online homeschool program for grades 3 and up. Monarch is one of the more reputable online homeschooling programs because it is actually by a company called AOP which has been around for over 40 years. Monarch can be used as a full homeschool curriculum with all the subjects, or it can be used for electives or al a carte courses. The amazing thing about Monarch is you pay 1 very low monthly price and get access to the FULL curriculum with all the subjects!! You can get 10% off your Monarch subscription here.
